Ken’s top smart home deals from the IT Show 2023 (Part 1)
Note: This feature was first published on 9 March 2023.
As much as I love attending a physical IT show, it’s time to admit that the time of only having pure tech products is over.
At the IT Show 2023, besides familiar tech of laptops, gaming desktops, printers, and monitors, there was a slew of smart home devices and everything we could need to help make our homes smart and our lifestyle easier.
Don’t forget to catch all of our IT Show 2023 coverage at our Tech Show Portal where you’ll also have access to the full brochure listing, interesting articles, and more.
Here are some of the smart home tech that I found interesting at the show.
Broadlink smart home automation
As part of the Challenger display on level 3 booth 318, Broadlink’s smart home automation display has everything you need to make your home smart. You can get smart plugs, lights, curtains, switches, and motion and door sensors. During the IT Show you can get things like a smart bulb for S$13.90 (U.P. S$18.90) or a smart plug for S$17.90 (U.P. S$24.00).
Daikin
Looking for more than an app to control your home air-conditioning? Then Daikin at booth 8429, could have the solution you need. One nice feature is that the units come with a Wi-Fi module installed. Buy a System 2 unit from the IT Show (S$2,499) and get a free Google Mini to add voice control to an individual air conditioning unit.
Hisense U8 smart TV
Enjoy the brightness and clarity of mini-LED technology with the Hisense U8H. This 65-inch display has 1,200 nits of brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. In terms of connectivity, it has HDMI 2.1 eARC, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5. Buy this at the Hisense booth 8713 for S$2,099 (U.P. S$2,399).
MÖWE smart curtains and blinds package
Looking for some automated smart blinds to keep out the light and heat? Then you can consider the MÖWE Zip smart curtains and blinds package that can be found at booth 8205. Here you can buy them according to the number of rooms in your flat. For example, a four-room BTO would cost S$3,999 (U.P. S$4,299).
Nanoleaf
Create the ambience you want with these multi-coloured lights from Nanoleaf. Have them change according to music, choose the colours you want, or just have them serve as regular lights. The decision is yours. Check them out at booth 8449 and buy nine triangle or hexagon panels for S$270 (U.P. S$339) with an expansion pack of three more for S$85 (U.P. S$109).
