AMD, One For All, Dvico and ARCHOS Booths

AMD made its first appearance at the IFA 2006 show with the introduction of how its AMD LIVE! digital connection home solutions can work for visitors. The AMD LIVE! ecosystem consists of a set top box as the media and content hub powered by AMD64 processors. Among the partners on this ecosystem are Hewlett-Packard, Yakumo and DREAM. Pictured here is a digital terrestrial receiver under the DREAM branding. It allows you to watch high-definition content on your digital TV, control DVD playback, record digital TV programs and so on.

One For All, known to be the market leader in universal remote controls, launched the Generation III Kameleon range of universal remote controllers. With a redesigned light up touch screen, the remote controller gives you PC control, full Home Cinema support and even light control (yes, we mean those thingies on your ceiling).

For some of you who's read about the TViX 5000 in HWM Singapore (where it won a Gold Award), Dvico now has a the TViX 5101A which not only lets you watch High-Definition digital broadcast TV but also record HDTV. It also has a new "sublime" DVB-T tuner attachment that upgrades the 5000 to add HDTV reception, transforming it into a HD PVR set top box. This attachment is basically an extended circular base below the TViX called the HB-100T, which comes with a digital TV tuner and a pass-through multi I/O port.

French firm ARCHOS, which produces portable multimedia players and MP3 players among other things, showed several new devices, including new ARCHOS 404 and 604 video players featuring 30GB storage, the 604 WIFI PMP with integrated wireless and touch screen and the 404 Camcorder.

The ARCHOS 504 portable multimedia player is the industry's first PMP with a 160GB hard drive, in addition of a 40GB and 80GB version. Based on the new Generation 4 line, the 504 supports all video formats in full DVD resolution and comes with a large-screen 4.3-inch display and optional DVR Station accessory.
