Well, that's our coverage of IFA 2006. From new Full HD (1080p) TVs starting from as low as 37 inches (from some CE manufacturers) to LED TVs, TVs with enhanced DVR function and the onslaught of 100-hertz LCD TVs, we're starting to see the flat-panel TV landscape becoming extremely advanced from a technological standpoint.

Not only that, Blu-ray movies and players seem to steal the limelight from HD DVD, although Toshiba and the dual format support from the likes of Lite-On and Verbatim indicate that the latter format may still have a chance to pull the rug out from under Blu-ray's over-confident sniggle. It is pretty obvious that all the flat-panel TV manufacturers are trying to produce Blu-ray players and recorders of their own to push this format forward. We await and see if Toshiba's resilience will persist and eventually win the format war.

Beyond TVs and next-generation optics, we also saw Mitsubishi's 1080p LCD projector, a US$900,000 audio sound system, WiFi connectivity on portable multimedia players, MP3 players that aim to bring people together and Philips' initiative to integrate technology into people's life, be it physical, mental or social.

Till the next IFA show, here's an image that might get you drooling. It's a decked out car by car audio manufacturer Clarion, where almost every flat area is occupied with a screen. Can't say what would happen if it rains but it sure got us staring.
