HWZ Deal Alert: 17th August 2018

It's Friday, and what better way to start the weekend than shopping for some gadgets? Let's go!

1.) TrackR Pixel (8 Pack)

Always misplacing your stuff? The TrackR Pixel is a small Bluetooth device that you attach to your important items, so that you can find them quickly by ringing it through an app on your phone. What if it’s your phone that’s missing? Well, you can press a button on the Pixel to make your phone ring, even when it’s on silent mode. The tracker also has LED lights, so you can easily locate it in the dark; and unlike some other trackers, its battery is replaceable. Normally going S$150 locally, you can pick up the 8-pack version from Amazon now for US$70 (~S$102). With shipping, the total cost comes up to US$75.50, or about S$110, which is still a pretty decent deal.

2.) Challenger Suntec City Mall Opening Deals

Challenger has just moved its Suntec City shop to a new space at Tower 4, #02-721. And from today till Aug 19, it’s running a few deals. For example, ValueClub members can get the Apple AirPods at 12% off their usual price of S$238.

Another great deal is the TP-Link HS100, which is going for just S$19.90 (U.P: S$34). This Wi-Fi smart plug can be controlled (and remotely accessed) with a mobile app, and do things like scheduling the switch to automatically power a device plugged into it on and off as needed. It works with Amazon Alexa, too. Only 30 units are available - so hurry.

Not into Apple or smart home products? Well, here’s the flyer listing the other deals:

3.) Nintendo New 3DS XL SNES Edition

Surprise, surprise - the Nintendo New 3DS XL SNES Edition that I’ve highlighted earlier this week isn’t sold out yet on Amazon, so if you’re still on the fence about it, you better make a decision soon. To recap, this limited edition New 3DS XL is now going for US$150 (~S$218) on Amazon, down from the usual US$200.

If you don’t care about the 3D function, the newer New 2DS XL is also going at a discount on Amazon right now. More specifically, the white + orange New 2DS XL is now going for US$130 (~S$190). Like the New 3DS XL, Amazon does ship this to Singapore too, for roughly S$10 extra. The only thing to take note of is that this set probably comes with a U.S. charger that’s not suitable for local use.
