Here are all the next-gen games shown off during Sony's PlayStation 5 showcase

By Tim Augustin - 27 Sep 2020

Demon's Souls, PlayStation Plus and... God of War 2?!

Oddworld: Soulstorm (2020)

This incredibly pretty platformer is the latest entry in the beloved Oddworld franchise, putting players in the boots of Abe, an alien trying to protect and free as many of his kin as possible. The game’s trailer frequently toes the line between dark and funny storytelling - so who knows how this is going to turn out. If you’re a fan of the franchise however, this is definitely worth checking out.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach (TBA)

Steel Wool Studios’ latest entry in the iconic horror game franchise is… well, creepy. These horror games usually have you manage cameras and draining batteries, while trying to keep track of murderous animatronic machines out for blood. Your blood, specifically. If you’re looking for a good party game to scare your friends with, this is it.

Demon’s Souls (November 19, 2020 in Singapore)

*Sigh* What can I say? This game looks beautiful. In this remake to the original Souls game, players will go forth into the foggy kingdom of Boletaria. There are plenty of monsters to kill, and bosses to be killed by. It’s a Souls game, after all. You pick yourself back up and run it again, because death is never the end.

Fortnite (November 19, 2020 in Singapore)

Fortnite is getting a free next-gen upgrade on launch day! PlayStation players are about to see the battle royale game just as PC players do, with one or two new additions. As many fans have pointed out, new death animations can be seen in this trailer - so it’s hard to tell just how much Epic Games are planning to add. Fortnite is currently having a great new Marvel-themed season, and Apple users are missing out.

PlayStation Plus Collection (November 19, 2020 in Singapore)

PlayStation Plus subscribers just got an added benefit. This huge bundle of PlayStation 4 games will be available for free for subscribers when PlayStation 5 launches! The collection includes incredible games like God of War, The Last of Us: Remastered, Uncharted 4, Bloodborne, Batman: Arkham Knight and more. If you somehow missed the PlayStation 4’s catalogue of exclusive games, this is a great way to start catching up.

God of War: Ragnarök (2021)

To close out its showcase, Santa Monica Studios dropped a bomb: not only is a sequel to God of War (2018) in the works, but it’s coming out next year! We don’t see much footage, but the teaser ominously warns us that Ragnarök is coming. God of War (2018) dealt with Nordic mythology, and within it Ragnarök is meant to be a series of events that leads to the end of the world. The first game ended with the beginning of Fimbulwinter - a long winter that is said to kick off Ragnarök.

Things are heating up! Or rather, cooling down.
