Here are all the new TV shows and movies you should binge in November 2021

Hawkeye, The Wheel of Time, Hellbound and more!

Hellbound (19 November) - Netflix

Director Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) returns with this new Netflix thriller. Hellbound explores a world swept by a supernatural phenomenon where executors from Hell suddenly start to condemn people to Hell, and a new religious group called the New Truth emerges amidst this chaos, while others try to uncover the truth behind the series of events. K-dramas are having a moment (which has arguably only begun to peak), so fingers crossed this turns out to be great!

The Wheel of Time (19 November) - Amazon Prime Video

From one of the most popular fantasy book series of all time comes Amazon’s new series: The Wheel of Time. Set in a world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows a member of the Aes Sedai, an incredibly powerful organisation. Named Moiraine, she embarks on a dangerous and globe-trotting journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn who will either save or destroy humanity. Between this and its upcoming Lord of the Rings series, Amazon has got quite a few high-fantasy stories to tell.

Tick, Tick… Boom! (19 November) - Netflix

This has been an amazing year for musical fans. Not only did it bring us cinematic adaptations of In the Heights, Dear Evan Hansen and West Side Story - but it’s also giving us the directorial debut of Lin-Manuel Miranda in Tick, Tick… Boom! This movie adapts an autobiographical musical by Jonathan Larson - the creator of Rent, a seminal classic in the theater scene. Jon (Andrew Garfield) is a young composer writing what he hopes will be the next great American musical, but finds that he’s quickly running out of time to do everything he needs to do.

Hawkeye (24 November) - Disney+

It’s been a second since Loki’s debut, but it’s finally time for another live-action Marvel series to premiere: Hawkeye. Set in a post-Blip New York City, this series follows Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye, who reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop, a young archer who happens to be his biggest fan. The ex-Avenger just wants to get back home to his family in time for Christmas, but he and Bishop will have to beat back an onslaught of bad guys and unravel a criminal conspiracy before that can happen.

How To With John Wilson Season 2 (26 November) - HBO

This show is rather hard to describe, but its creator does the best job of it: “It’s kind of like that show Planet Earth, but if it was only in New York, and David Attenborough was forced to film everything himself.” How To With John Wilson instantly became one of my favourites when it premiered last year, following a man named John Wilson as he attempts to give viewers a guide on how to do everyday things, from making small talk to cooking the perfect risotto. The narrator often meanders from these tutorials to find himself in the most bizarre situations, and his endless supply of B-roll only heightens the absurdity of it all.

New York is a strange place and Wilson doesn’t shy away from that, but he approaches all of its oddities with a shocking amount of emotional intelligence. Season 2, hopefully, continues that journey.
