A Hardware Zone Special: PlayTest August 2008 (Updated with Videos!)

By Kenny Yeo - 24 Sep 2008

PlayTest: Talks by PVi, www.hardwarezone.com and HWM

Tech Talks by PVi, HardwareZone and HWM

Seeing that many attendees enjoyed the in-depth talk given by our resident HD guru, Mr. Andy Sim, in our inaugural PlayTest, we decided to increase the number of talks.

For this PlayTest, we had three talks, each covering a different topic. The first talk of the day was by PVi's photography gurus, Adrian and Timothy, where they talked about the relationship between sensor sizes and image quality in DSLR cameras. This was followed later by our hardware component experts Vijay and Vincent, who highlighted the latest tech trends and expounded upon the secrets of CPU optimization. Finally, our mobile phone masters Sutlej and Tein Hee shared with attendees the differences and pros and cons of the two major mobile phone operating systems - Windows Mobile 6.1 and Symbian S60 - as well as some tricks to better optimize them for your needs.

Our first talk of the day was given by PVi's photography duo, Adrian and Timothy. Together, they explained to attendees how image quality in DSLRs is affected by sensor sizes.

The second talk of the day was given by our components experts Vijay and Vincent, who taught attendees the ways and secrets of CPU optimization.

As you can see, the attendees were all ears, as they were eager to learn the secrets to squeezing out that extra bit of juice from their systems.

Our last talk of the day was given by our mobile phone junkies Sutlej and Tein Hee, both of whom talked at length about mobile phone operating systems, and, of course, the iPhone 3G.

During the talk, the iPhone 3G was passed around so that attendees could get their hands on them and try out its much vaunted touchscreen interface.
