Temperature Testing & Overclocking

Temperature Testing

In terms of temperatues, the dual-slot coolers generally had the advantage, with the ASUS, Palit and XpertVision all doing slightly better than the standard cooler. Sparkle and its passive cooler obviously had the highest temperatures here but it's the trade off for having a perfectly silent graphics card. As it is, all the coolers were thankfully quiet and without a precise noise measurement instrument to distinguish them individually, we'll have to bunch them together and say that their noise output was more than acceptable.

Overclocking

When it came to overclocking, all the GeForce 9600 GT cards were capable of doing at least 750MHz for the core and 1900MHz DDR for the memory. The ASUS emerged with the best overclock, perhaps due to its excellent Glaciator cooler, but the Palit also had very respectable overclocks. With the exception of the Gigabyte, most of the cards ended up with similar overclocks and no single card or cards stood out.
