VIA getting into a garden affair at Computex 2007. The theme this year is 'small, small, small'.

VIA is the actual OEM for the FIC CE260 we showed in the earlier section of this article. VIA is launching this design at Computex and consumers will probably see quite a number of OEM brands carrying a similar design.

Another famous UMPC design making the waves these days that operates on VIA hardware. The OQO model 02 runs on a 1.5GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor, VIA VX700 GPU, an 800x480 5-inch display, VGA/DVI/HDMI support for 1920x1200 output resolution and 1GB DDR2-533 RAM.

Seen here, the OQO model 02 running a full fledged Vista Ultimate installation. Playing around with it though, the unit does get pretty hot and VIA says it is actually due to Vista, which requires more power just to run its interface.

More UMPC designs from players like Gigabyte and Medion running on VIA C7-M ULV processors.

The 500MHz Eden ULV is the world's lowest power processor according to VIA, drawing only 1W maximum TDP.

Moving into ever smaller territory, VIA shows a pico-ITX motherboard, which is basically only 10x7.2cm, the world's smallest x86 platform.

If you're wondering, VIA still has pretty strong support from major motherboard vendors such as Foxconn for their mainstream desktop chipsets.
