G-Technology

Power users who want a fast desktop storage solution should check out the G-RAID with Thunderbolt 3. It has two drive-bays and supports Thunderbolt 3. It is available in 8TB (S$919), 12TB (S$1,139), 20TB (S$1,599), and 28TB (S$2,179).

The G-Drive Mobile USB-C features a sleek aluminum chassis and is available in a variety of colours including silver, grey, gold, and pink gold. Available in 1TB (S$107), 2TB (S$135), and 4TB (S$206) capacities.

 

HP

The HP Portable SSD P500 is a basic portable external SSD that offer transfer speeds of up to 370MB/s. At less than 10mm thick and just 45g in weight, it is super compact and portable. It is available in silver, blue, red, and black. The 250GB version is S$69 (U.P S$99) while the 500GB version is S$109 (U.P S$139).

The HP EX950 and EX920 M.2 SSDs both support the PCIe 3.0 x4 interface and can deliver transfer speeds over 3,000MB/s. They also come with 5-year-long warranties. Prices for the EX950 start at S$139 for the 512GB drive, while prices for the EX920 start at S$75 for a smaller 256GB drive.

 

LaCie

Heading to the wild outdoors and need a portable drive that is just as rugged as you are? The LaCie Rugged Secure is shock, dust, and water-resistant and features hardware encryption. The 2TB version is going for S$189 and includes two-year free data recovery service.

 

QNAP

The QNAP TR-004 is a 4-bay direct-attached storage that is great for anyone who is trying to assemble an inexpensive desktop RAID storage system. It connects via USB-C USB 3.0 and supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and JBOD. It is priced at S$326.

 

Samsung

The Samsung Portable SSD T5 is a compact, stylish, and fast portable external SSD. Available in 250GB (S$109), 500GB (S$139), 1TB (S$289), and 2TB (S$579). The 250GB model comes with a free JBL headphone while the 1TB model gets S$99 worth of freebies including vouchers, and the 2TB model comes with S$199 worth of freebies including vouchers.

The high-end Samsung 970 Pro SSD is available in 512GB and 1TB capacities and are priced at S$289 (U.P S$319) and S$499 (U.P S$749) respectively.

The Samsung 970 Evo Plus is one of the company's newer SSDs. It's an update of last year's 970 Evo, and uses Samsung's latest 96-layer TLC NAND. It deliver sequential read and write speeds of 3,500MB/s and 3,300MB/s respectively. It's available in 250GB (S$119), 500GB (S$179), 1TB (S$339), and 2TB (S$759) capacity points. The 250GB drive comes with a free JBL headphone while the 500GB drive comes with a free S$10 voucher.

SanDisk

The SanDisk SSD Plus is one of the most affordable SSDs you will find at the show. The 120GB version is just S$32, the 240GB version is S$45, the 480GB model is S$85, and finally, the 1TB version is S$185. If your system is still running on a hard disk, this is the best and most cost-effective way to speed it up.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro portable SSD connects via the USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard and claims to deliver transfer speeds of up to 1,050MB/s. It's only available in 500GB and it is priced at S$219. It will come with a free limited edition SanDisk EZ-Link card.

For users demanding a little performance, the SanDisk Ultra SD SSD uses the company's 3D NAND and features nCache 2.0 technology for faster writes. It's available in 500GB (S$98) and 1TB (S$199) capacity points.
