ASUS recently launched the ZenFone series in South East Asia and announced that the ZenFone 5 would be coming to Singapore in May. In collaboration with HardwareZone, ASUS Singapore held an exclusive hands-on session last evening where 60 attendees were among the first in Singapore to try out the ZenFone 5. For those who didn't manage to get a slot for the session, here's what transpired at the event:-
Attendes were given an overview of the new ZenFones by Mr. Derek Cheng, Product Manager of Smartphones for ASUS Singapore. He explained the market proposition of the ZenFones; good features shouldn't be exclusive only to high-end, premium smartphones. Derek also shared that demand for this new series has been very positive and he is working hard to bring in the phones as soon as possible.
Mr. George Chacko, Regional Director for Tablet Product Marketing at Intel, was also present at the event to talk about the partnership with ASUS for its mobile devices. George also cited several usage scenarios in his presentation slides such as web browsing performance and gaming to highlight how Intel's mobile processors outperformed its competitors which have more cores. He also expounded that with Intel's dual-core Atom processor with Hyper-Threading technology, you get the best of performance and power optimization. Further to that, the processor also has a burst mode to quickly complete the tasks, thus helping conserve energy as opposed to crunching for a longer duration - the same ethos which all Intel processors conform to, whether it's in the server or mobile market.
27 units of the ZenFone 5 were issued to the attendees to try out during the two-hour long event. They also tucked in to a sumptuous buffet dinner, courtesy of ASUS Singapore. As part of the event's programme, attendees took part in mini quizzes on the features of the ZenFone 5.
ASUS Singapore also guided attendees step-by-step on the new features of the ZenFone such as the new ZenUI interface and the PixelMaster camera technology. Staff from ASUS and HardwareZone also mingled with the attendees to answer queries on the devices.
To quality for the one-week free user trial, attendees were required to get creative with their photography skills on the ZenFone 5. A demo station was set up to provide them with the necessary props to take the most creative and outstanding photos.
