One of the most important test of these IGP boards is how they fare in 3D games. From our results in Quake 4 and Unreal Tournament 3, it's probably too early to retire your discrete graphics. While these boards performed better than its predecessors, they are still not capable of playing these modern games at anything remotely close to moderate settings. Quake 4 favored the 780G Gigabyte, with the 740G managing to keep up with the GeForce 8 mGPUs.

The new Unreal Tournament 3 however was too taxing for it. And there, the GeForce 8 mGPUs and the Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H scored around the same, with the GeForce 8300 taking advantage of its higher shader clocks to edge ahead.
