Covid-19 has forced everyone all over the world stay safe, stay at home and practice social distancing. It’s a pandemic that doesn’t seem to be letting up any time soon, so thank goodness April is giving us lots of reasons to stay at home and play games.
This is a massive month! From much-hyped remakes like Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy 7 to multiplayer games like Predator: Hunting Grounds, this is going to be a really fun month to play games in. A really tough one on the ol’ wallet, too. Here’s a list of all the games you should look out for in April:
Personally, this is the game I’m most excited for this month. You play as Jill Valentine, a S.T.A.R.S. officer in post-apocalyptic Raccoon City, right before the adventures of Claire and Leon in the previous game. Unfortunately, Jill doesn't just have zombies to deal with in this broken city. Hot on her trail is Nemesis, a Frankenstein-like monster wielding rocket launchers and flamethrowers. His goal? Kill all remaining members of S.T.A.R.S..
I played through the demo myself and adored it. Read all about it here!
It’s time to take the fight to Shinra. Again. Cloud Strife and his eco-terrorist AVALANCHE cohorts are on a one-time mission to stop Shinra from destroying the planet, but don’t realise just what they’ve gotten themselves into. This remake adds an entirely new combat system and some truly gorgeous graphics to the classic RPG. We were invited by Square Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore to play a chunk of the game in March, and we absolutely loved it!
I mean, who hasn’t wanted to play as the Predator at some point? This is a multiplayer game that pits the Predator against a four-man squad of soldiers. Each character comes with their own weapons and abilities to combat the Predator, who is obviously the strongest alien around. This comes from the creators of Friday the 13th: the Game!
Hunting down aliens not your thing? You might prefer this remake of another classic JRPG. The fantasy game follows three heroes trying to claim the Mana Sword of legend, while trying to prevent a dark force from destroying the world. High stakes! A demo is out for the game right now, check it out if you’d like.
