The trailer also gives us a glimpse of the characters that our heroes will encounter along the way, including Anne (voiced by Mikako Komatsu of Jujutsu Kaisen fame) and Meuniere. Their journey is set against the upbeat opening theme of Water Carrier by Kroi. Scheduled to premiere in two batches, the series will first introduce audiences to its world with seven episodes on 20 March, followed by a continuation from episodes eight to thirteen a week later.

Sand Land remains one of the more obscure pieces of the late Akira Toriyama's prolific body of work. Toriyama, who arguably single-handedly brought manga to the world’s mainstream with the immensely influential Dragon Ball, is an icon of Japanese pop culture. He tragically passed away on 1 March, 2024. He was 68 years old.
