As any Lord of the Rings fan might tell you, any LOTR content is probably good LOTR content, and that goes double for the upcoming Rings of Power TV series that's scheduled to debut on Amazon Prime later this year.

Case in point, the first trailer for the much-anticipated show from Amazon Studios has debuted at the Super Bowl, and although it's only about a minute long, it still tells us quite a bit about what we can expect to see once it's out.

Rings of Power's narrative is set during the Second Age, and the trailer takes us through several iconic areas of Middle-Earth, including the thriving island realm of Numenor (before it sank, of course), Khazad-dum, and Moria. As you might expect, the scenery is amazing, to say the least, and the momentary glimpses of characters like a young Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) and Elrond (Robert Aramayo) help add a much-needed reference point for viewers to get their bearings.

As for other areas like the Shire, we probably won't be seeing it, though we might pass by a very early iteration of it. After all, the Hobbits weren't exactly "Hobbits" per se at this point in Middle-Earth's history - they were still in an evolutionary stage referred to as the Harfoots. But for all intents and purposes, we are getting a consolation prize of sorts in Rings of Power - there's a voiceover from a yet-unnamed character that instinctively feels like a Hobbit, though it seems we'll have to wait and find out who that is.

Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is scheduled to debut on Amazon Prime on 2 September.
