You’ve shed no small amount of tears when it was shown in the cinema; now you can cry in the comfort of your own home as How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, the Thai family drama that became a surprise hit across the region, is coming to Netflix on 12 September. The movie tells the story of a college dropout who decided to care for his ailing grandmother with hopes of earning her affection – and ultimately, her inheritance.

I've not watched the movie but I've heard how much of a tear-jerker it is and I'm not sure my butter heart will be able to take it. I suggest watching this on a Saturday night, and then taking the entire Sunday to recover from it.

But that's not it.

Want to cry even more? Then catch the Studio Ghibli's anti-war anime Grave of the Fireflires, premiering on 16 September. It's about two orphans fighting for survival in post-World War II Japan, but society is harsh and they struggle to escape the hardships of war and find enough food. Fireflies is certainly one of the famed studio's more heart-wrenching movies and a tear-jerker of the highest proportion.

September looks set to be a month that's bucketfull of my tears already.

Netflix is available from S$13.98/mth. Click here to subscribe.
