Disney+ has dropped the first trailer for Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion and a release date — June 21.
Secret Invasion is the first TV series in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following on the cinematic release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February.
Secret Invasion focuses on Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, the one-eyed spy, founder of the Avengers, and former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Set in the present day MCU, Secret Invasion follows Fury as he learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.
The six-episode series is expected to tie in with future MCU films, such as November's The Marvels. The trailer plays out much like an espionage trailer — with intrigue, a bombing, and a sense that you never know who exactly you can trust.
