Do it, you cowards.
Episode 3 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier gave us strong development for a returning baddie from Captain America: Civil War - Baron Helmut Zemo. This version of Zemo had a much less grim attitude however, cracking jokes and taking his butt to the dance floor with style. The two-second scene of Zemo dancing in Madripoor has quickly become a meme, but it was apparently a lot longer originally.
During an interview with EW, Zemo's actor Daniel Bruhl revealed that the sequence of him clubbing in Madripoor was cut down from, “a long dance,” and he wasn’t sure it would even make it into the episode. He’s also aware of its sudden popularity, and finds the whole thing hilarious:
It's so hysterical. [That moment] was improvised when I saw the crowd dancing, going loco. I felt the beat and was like, Zemo has been sitting in a dodgy German prison cell for years. So, he needs to let off some steam and show his moves. Let's go for it! I enjoyed so much the reaction of Anthony and Sebastian looking at me. Still, I was 100 per cent sure that they would cut it out [of the show]. I was really surprised and happy that they kept it. It was a long dance. There's more to it, but they cut this little moment. I didn't know what was happening, but I then received all these messages from my friends cracking up.
You can’t bait fans with the knowledge that a longer version of Baron Zemo cutting loose on the dance floor actually exists, and expect to get away scot-free. Now, fans are taking to Twitter and using the #ReleaseTheZemoCut hashtag to demand the extended sequence from Marvel Studios, and they actually got it trending for a while too.
You know, this guy killed a bunch of people in Civil War. I’m just saying.
