The Dolittle trailer has Robert Downey Jr. talking to animals
No - Eddie Murphy isn't in this one.
Tony Stark might be out of the game, but Robert Downey Jr isn’t. Universal Pictures has finally released the first trailer for Dolittle.
The film is a reimagining of Hugh Lofting’s Doctor Dolittle books, telling the story of an eccentric veterinarian in Victorian England who can talk to animals. Robert Downey Jr stars as Dr. John Dolittle, the famed doctor who has now shrunk away from the spotlight after losing his wife seven years ago.

When the young Queen Victoria falls ill, Dolittle reluctantly sets out on a voyage around the world to find a cure for her, along with his animal companions. The film also stars Antonio Banderas, Emma Thompson, Tom Holland, Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, Kumail Nanjiani, Marion Cotillard, John Cena and more.
Dolittle is directed by Stephen Gaghan (Gold, Syriana) with music by Danny Elfman. That’s a lot of talent packed into a movie about a man who talks to animals, but who am I to judge? The movie is expected to be released sometime in January 2020.
