Cyberpunk: Edgerunners receives a manga prequel and 2025 Blu-ray release

This is an unexpectedly good month to be a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners fan; a few days ago, CD Projekt Red announced that the popular 2022 anime is getting a manga prequel, as well as a physical Blu-ray release in 2025.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is set in the world of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 game. The manga prequel, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, will focus on two fan favourites of the main cast, siblings Rebecca and Pilar. The manga will see them making a name for themselves as edgerunners before encountering a mysterious character named Safran, who is set to change their futures.

Art for the manga is done by Asano, who was also the artist for BNA's manga adaptation, while the story is written by Bartosz Sztybor, a narrative director at CD Projekt Red who has writing and production credits on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The manga will run in a serialised format, with chapters releasing monthly for Japanese (through Kadokawa), Polish, Italian, Spanish, German, French and Traditional Chinese languages. Official English chapters will be published in paperback volumes by publisher Dark Horse Comics.

The latter will have its first chapter on December 20th, but there's no word on when the first English volume will release yet.

Additionally, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be getting a physical Blu-ray release in 2025. Originally broadcasted on Netflix, the Blu-ray edition will be released to Japan, the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand.
