The war on drugs has begun - again.

What if popping pills gave you superpowers? Netflix’s new sci-fi thriller Project Power kicks off with that premise, starring Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. A mysterious new pill has started making the rounds in New Orleans, and anyone who takes it immediately gets superpowers for five minutes. The catch? They don’t know what power will manifest until they actually take the pill.

It’s great to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a mainstream flick again. His character Art teams up with a teenage drug dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier (Jamie Foxx) to stop the criminals responsible for creating this dangerous new pill. And of course, they take the pill too. What kind of superhero movie would this be otherwise?

Project Power will debut on Netflix on August 14, 2020. From the looks of it, the streaming service might have another franchise on their hands.
