Looks like we're going back to the Upside Down!
“We’re not in Hawkins anymore,” is the tagline for the fourth season of Netflix’s smash hit, Stranger Things. Season 4 is probably still pretty far out, especially considering we just got Season 3 in June, but that hasn’t stopped Netflix from releasing a teaser this early.
All things considered, it’s a pretty juicy teaser! It appears to show the small town of Hawkins in the Upside Down - a nightmarish other dimension inhabited by all the monsters that have terrorised Eleven and her friends in the past.
Spoiler alert if you haven’t finished Stranger Things 3! “We’re not in Hawkins anymore,” could mean any number of things. Season 3 ended with most of the gang bidding goodbye to one another as they moved away, and with Hopper seemingly dead.
Season 4 could forgo Hawkins entirely and take place in Russia, where most of Season 3’s plot came from. The ending teaser of Season 3 had the Russians hold a mysterious American in a cage, along with a full-fledged Demogorgon. Obviously, they’re still up to some pretty ominous things.
Could we see an entire season spent in the Upside Down? Perhaps the children will somehow journey to Russia instead? Maybe Hopper will even come back (please!)? We’ll just have to wait and see. It took 2 years for us to get Season 3. Hopefully we don't have to suffer as long a wait for Season 4!
