Marvel’s Thunderbolts hits Disney+ on 27 August

Marvel fans who missed Thunderbolts in cinemas won’t have to wait much longer to catch it at home. The latest MCU entry arrives on Disney+ tomorrow (27 August), giving those of us (me included) a chance to see Marvel’s misfit team in action from the comfort of our couch.

The movie pulls together a line-up of so-called “burned assets” – familiar names like Yelena and Bucky who aren’t exactly squeaky-clean heroes – and throws them into a fight they can’t walk away from. The result is a different flavour of Marvel team-up, one that balances humour, friction, and heavy-hitting action. Its theatrical run was met with decent buzz, holding a strong Rotten Tomatoes rating of 88% and generating plenty of chatter about how the MCU is finding new ways to rework its ensemble formula.

Of course, by now we know how the movie ended but I won’t spoil it here for those who are still in the dark. Find out when Thunderbolts starts streaming on Disney+ from 27 August.
