Xbox One to Launch in Asia Only in Late 2014

According to Microsoft's Alan Bowman, regional vice president for sales and marketing in Asia, the Xbox One will only come to Asia in late 2014. No specific date has been set but this could mean Asia could get the Xbox One as late as a year after its worldwide launch later this year in November.

Bowman said this was part of Microsoft's "staged approach" to marketing the console and also stated that the new device will only be available in selected "high-growth" markets such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, South Korea and, fortunately, Singapore. In the meantime, Microsoft will continue marketing the Xbox 360 in these regions.

Microsoft has also yet to comment on when the new console will launch in Japan, a market where it is traditionally weak in, given that it is the Playstation's "home" country.

It remains to be seen how fans of the Xbox 360 console will take to this new development, given the Xbox One's many restrictions, online requirement as well as its higher price tag as compared to its main rival, the Playstation 4.
