Xbox Games Showcase: The Gunk is a quirky puzzler from the makers of SteamWorld

You probably shouldn't touch the stuff.

To be entirely honest, I'm not averse to adding "alien goo specialist" to my resume, especially not after seeing The Gunk at the Xbox Games Showcase. Developed by Image & Form, the team behind the SteamWorld series, it's a game where the protagonist (that's you) decides to explore an alien planet (for whatever reason), and suck up the...well, gunk that seems to be corrupting the local flora and fauna.

Naturally, as page 37 of Typical Game Logic 101 dictates, something even more sinister is afoot, and the presence of weird machinery depicted at the end of the trailer seems to suggest as much.

Anyway, it seems to be a really cool puzzler-RPG hybrid, and if "owning a gauntlet with a gunk vacuum" just happens to be on your bucket list, then you might want to give this a shot when it releases for the Xbox One and PC later this year, and Xbox Series X in 2021.
