Xbox 360 to Receive Internet Explorer 9

While it's pretty odd that the Xbox 360 has not had a proper web browser for the last seven years, Microsoft aims to finally give its gaming console one in the form of a customized IE9.

Even smartphones have been toting web browsers for the last few years, so it's pretty surprising that Microsoft's only gaming console, the Xbox 360, has survived without one for the last seven years.

However, it appears Microsoft is ready to rectify that, with testing currently being done with a custom version of Internet Explorer 9 on the Xbox 360, according to sources at The Verge. Microsoft aims to provide a full web browser for the console, and one of the customizations to the Xbox 360 version will be support for Kinect gestures and voice control. There's currently no announcement on the launch date for the Xbox 360 version of IE9, so stay tuned for more updates.
