As World of Warcraft (WoW) approaches its 20th anniversary, Blizzard Entertainment has announced the Collector’s Edition of its upcoming expansion The War Within.

A collector’s edition of the MMORPG’s expansion isn’t new (Blizzard has always released one for all previous expansions), but the WoW: The War Within Collector’s Edition not only commemorates two decades of the world’s most popular online game but also several unique items that makes it possibly the franchise’s best collector’s edition yet.

At the heart of this collector's edition is a new art book, a collectible pin set (of Alleria, Anduin and Thrall), and notably, a golden gryphon rider statue. Priced at US$180, this bundle builds on the offerings of the previously announced Epic Edition, which already includes a level 70 Character Boost, 1000 Trader’s Tender, an in-game Algarian Stormrider mount with a matching transmog set, and several other digital perks including 30 days of game time, as well as beta and early access to The War Within and the Dragonflight expansion for those who don't already own it.

Blizzard has also considered those who may have already purchased the digital-only version of The War Within. These players have the opportunity to upgrade to the Collector's Edition and receive a Battle.net balance reimbursement equal to their initial digital purchase. This makes the physical collector’s items essentially an additional US$90, considering the Epic Edition costs US$90 alone.

Last but not least, Blizzard has also kickstarted the alpha testing phase for The War Within, focusing each week on different zones within the game. Purchasing the Collector's Edition guarantees a spot in the upcoming beta.

World of Warcraft: The War Within will be available on PC and Mac, on or before December 2024. Pre-orders can be made on Blizzard’s website.
