Watch Dogs: Legion will be free-to-play on all platforms between 26-29 March

No, this is not an early April Fools' joke.

No, people. It doesn't matter how many times we use this joke - it's always going to be funny watching a harmless grandma take out a corporate security force with nothing but her cookie-baking wits, a garden-variety taser and the occasional kick.

Of course, that's just one of the many hilarious antics you can get up to in Watch Dogs: Legion, and if you aren't sure if you enjoy this brand of comedy, Ubisoft is letting you try out the game for free this weekend between Mar 26-29, with pre-loads available on Mar 25. Oh, there's a lot of hacking involved too, but that's probably not the game's main attraction. Nope, definitely not.

Anyway, should you get bored of disturbing security guards or thwacking people over the head with construction tools, the free trial also lets you experience a limited portion of the game's campaign. Specifically, you'll be able to play through all of the story missions up till the Skye Larsen mission as well as explore half of the game's eight boroughs. Needless to say, the game's core recruitment mechanic applies here too - any and all characters can be recruited into DedSec and controlled by the player.

Apart from the free trial, Ubisoft has also dropped reminders detailing the game's new multiplayer additions - the previously announced Leader of the Pack online Tactical Op is now available for play, and in late-May there will be yet another Tactical Op, titled Project Omni as well as two new PvP modes: Extraction and Invasion. If this is what you're keen on, you can check out more Multiplayer and PvP details in our previous news writeup. Meanwhile, Season Pass holders will be getting a ton of new stuff down the line as well - check out the infographic roadmap below.
