Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world Harry Potter game that released in 2023 (and which scored an 8.5 in our review of it that year), is set to receive official modding support for PC, according to publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer Avalanche Games.
This is through a free update coming 30 January, via Steam and Epic Games Store. Players will now see a new button implemented on the main menu that allows them to access and manage new mods. For prospective modders, a Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit will be released for free on Epic Games Store, which includes necessary tools and a simplified modding UI, and which supports new quests, dungeons and cosmetics. It did not reveal whether some kind of mod support would also appear on console.
Mods can be submitted through the CurseForge platform, an established modding marketplace for many different titles, and published in Hogwarts Legacy itself. Take a look at the official video for this update here, which includes teasers for new mods available on day one:

Hogwarts Legacy for PC already has a ton of unofficial mods available on platforms like Nexus Mods. With this new update, and two years after the game's release, it's nice to see developers giving the community support to make the game last, especially as, according to Warner Bros. Games, 30 million copies of Hogwarts Legacy has been sold across all platforms. The community aspect was one that Avalanche seemed particularly enthusiastic about in its reveal video as well.
