Valorant makes official console debut, bringing its tactical shooter to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Riot Game’s popular tactical shooter Valorant has officially launched on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The full release follows a limited beta period and brings the free-to-play 5v5 game to console players in select regions.

The console version of Valorant is now available in North America, Europe, Japan, and Brazil. Players in these regions can download the game for free from their console's online marketplace, provided they have a Valorant account in good standing and own either an Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5.

Valorant’s console version aims to deliver the same gameplay and precise gunplay that is found on PC. They have made several adaptations to ensure a smooth transition to controller-based play, including a new “Focus” shooting mode that replaces ADS to help balance the need for quick camera movement with precise aiming. 

While the game supports cross-progression, allowing players to carry over skins and advancements made between platforms, Valorant will not feature crossplay between PC and console. Valorant maintains separate rank and MMR (matchmaking rating) systems for PC and console play, ensuring fair competition across platforms.

The console launch includes all the heroes, abilities, and content available in the PC version. Riot Games has committed to simultaneous updates across all platforms, ensuring console players stay current with balance patches, new agents, and premium content.

Additionally, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will receive exclusive Valorant benefits, including access to all Agents, a 20% boost to progression, and more. 

Unfortunately as of now, there is no mention of when Valorant will be available in the Asia region. More information about Valorant on console can be found on their official website here.
