Talk about perfect games to play during quarantine!
Total War: Shogun 2 has just been made free on Steam, but the offer will only last until May 1, 2020. You have just a couple more days to grab this great game for free, and keep it for life.
Total War developers Creative Assembly justified making the game available for free on their website, saying that it was to encourage players to stay home during this difficult time:
The past few weeks have presented unimaginable challenges for many of us, but the remarkable collective effort being made by the global community to overcome this moment of adversity has been truly inspirational. With this in mind, we want to continue to encourage you all to stay home and save lives by extending a gift to everyone to help make this difficult situation a little bit easier.
A ‘Total War sale’ also began yesterday, discounting other games in the series such as Total War: Rome 2 - Emperor Edition, Total War: Medieval 2 and Total War: Napoleon - Definitive Edition. If you somehow miss getting Total War: Shogun 2 for free, you will still be able to grab it at a 75% discount starting from May 2, 2020. The Total War sale will end on May 4, 2020.
Total War: Shogun 2 may have released all the way back in 2011, but one could argue that it hasn’t aged a day. It’s a fan favourite game in the franchise, and its visuals and gameplay mechanics aren’t too dated, even now. Longtime Total War fans shouldn’t hesitate to snap this up, but this is a pretty great entry point for newcomers too!
