Visions of Mana is launching soon on 29 August and Square Enix has unveiled the final trailer for the action RPG. The latest instalment marks a return to the series’ action RPG roots after a 15-year hiatus for the mainline entry.
The game is being developed by a team, including producer Masaru Oyamada, directors Ryosuke Yoshida (DMC5) and Kenji Ozawa from NetEase Games OUKA STUDIOS, and features music by long-time series composers Hiroki Kikuta, Tsuyoshi Sekito, and Ryo Yamazaki.

Visions of Mana follows protagonist Val and his childhood friend Hinna, the newly appointed Alm of Fire, as they go on a journey to the Mana Tree. Players will explore semi-open fields filled with monsters while engaging in three-dimensional battles using the power of elementals.
Some key features of the game include:
- Elemental Vessels: Elemental Vessels are mystical artificats that allow players to harness elemental powers for combat and exploration. Vessels for Earth, Light, and Darkness have been revealed, each offering their own unique abilities and class changes for characters.
- Elemental Plots: Elemental Plots is the character progression system where players unlock new skills and abilities by advancing along element-specific plots using Elementite crystals and Gold Clovers found throughout the world.
- New and returning characters: The game introduces Aesh, a young scholar from the Log’grattzo Dark Archives, alongside familiar faces like the travelling merchant Niccolo and Li’l Cactus.
- Diverse NPC's: Players will encounter a trio of beastfolk siblings: Madeline, Francine, and Christine - who run a travelling shop, as well as the quirky Dudbears, who trade valuable items for their favourite treat, Grizzly Syrup.
To give a brief history lesson, the first Mana game in the series, Secret of Mana, was released in 1993. Following Secret of Mana, Square Enix published Trials of Mana and Legends of Mana.
Visions of Mana will be available on the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Square Enix is offering a Digital Deluxe Edition that will feature numerous cosmetics, soundtracks, and weapons alongside 24-hour early access.
