Speed up your PlayStation console easily with Kingston’s HyperX Savage EXO

At Computex 2018, Kingston updated us they were close to launching a much easier way to achieve a speed boost simply by plugging in their upcoming HyperX Savage EXO external SSD.

Upgrading your PlayStation 4 console with an SSD brings about massive speed boosts like quicker boot-up times, game installations and game loading times. Based on our experience, it is by far the first thing we’ll recommend you do after buying the console. Of course, a good TV, home theatre system, headsets and more will greatly improve your gaming experience, this is one upgrade that usually takes a bit more effort to achieve.

At Computex 2018, Kingston updated us they were close to launching a much easier way to achieve a speed boost simply by plugging in their upcoming HyperX Savage EXO external SSD to the Playstation’s USB port. Kingston claims a 20% speed boost over the console’s internal hard drive by delivering read/write speed up to 500/480MB/s respectively, reaching close to the theoretical maximum transfer over USB.

We’re keen to find out how it stacks up against swapping the internal HDD with an SSD, but the HyperX Savage EXO certainly can’t be beaten for ease of upgrading.

Kingston says this should hit retail by end of July 2018.
