Sony's US$100 PS Vita TV Lets You Play Vita, PSP & PS1 Games on Your TV
Sony's US$100 PlayStation Vita TV is a tiny console and set-top box which lets you play Vita, PSP and PS1 games on your TV. It can also be used as an extender for the upcoming PlayStation 4, letting you play on another TV.
Sony's new PlayStation Vita TV is a 6 x 10cm console and set-top box which will let you play Vita, PSP and PS1 games on your TV. Based on PS Vita hardware, the PS Vita TV will be released in Japan on November 14th. Unfortunately, Sony has not announced whether or not the PS Vita TV will be available globally.
The PS Vita TV can play all of the PSP and PS1 games currently available on the PlayStation Network. The PS Vita TV can only play some, but not all, PS Vita games however, because many of them use the touch-screen, motion sensors and other features on the PS Vita. The PS Vita will support Japanese video services like Tsutaya TV, as well as Sony's Video Unlimited. The PS Vita TV can also stream PlayStation 4 games on a second TV if you already have a PS4 hooked up on another TV set.
A basic package, without the Dual Shock 3 controller (which is needed to use with the set) will sell at 9,954 yen, which works out to about US$100, around S$127. A more expensive package including the controller, will sell for 14.280 yen, about US$143 or around S$182.
