Fans are quite divided on this already, it seems.

Sony has just revealed the first official box art for upcoming next-gen PlayStation 5 games - and it’s quite the change. While the PlayStation 3 opted for a black theme and the PlayStation 4 opted for a blue theme, it looks like we’re getting a mix of blue and white this time around.

Weird, right? Pretty much all that’s changing is the white PS5 label on top of the game’s title, which is blue on PS4 games. That’s probably because Sony’s next-gen console is quite the departure from previous generations, adopting a futuristic white and black design.

It seems like PS5 games will retain the overall blue outline and theme, however. That particular part of its design has not been received very well. On Twitter, many are wondering why Sony decided to keep the blue theme instead of doing a black and white combo, or just making it entirely white. Personally, I think it’s probably going to grow on everyone with time.

Sony will release the PS5 this holiday season. At a recent event, they revealed a robust lineup of PlayStation 5 games. Another PS5 event is reportedly scheduled for August, as well.
