The Sims series is turning 25 next month, and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) has events in store for when it hits a quarter century on 4 February. This includes numerous new Kits, updates, limited time events and a 25-hour livestream on the day itself.
This is the roadmap set out by EA for The Sims-related events in the next month:
- Jan 16: 3 new Sims 4 Kits (inspired by iconic Sims characters)
- Jan 27-31: An unknown event titled 'Nostalgia Now'
- Feb 4: 25-Hour Anniversary Livestream at 10PM UTC (6AM SGT) that will go over the impact of The Sims franchise, with special guests
- Feb 6: The Sims 4 Motherlode Season
- Feb 25: An unknown and untitled event
The 3 new kits for The Sims 4 slated to be launched on January 16 include one titled 'Secret Sancutary', a Kit centred around timeless furniture and items, and another called 'Casanova Cave', a more modern-themed Kit. It also includes a 'Comfy Gamer' Kit that was made in collaboration with The Sims content creator lilsimsie. EA also said that more Creator Kits, made with other content creators and inspired by custom Sims content makers, are also in the works.
Aside from the livestream, 4 February will also feature a new free content update for The Sims 4 base game, which includes more than 70 new in-game items for all players. These span new Create a Sim options, including new hairstyles, new clothing and new accessories, as well as new Build Buy items to decorate your Sims home with.
February 4 will also see a new Live Mode event, titled 'Blast From The Past'. The event will run for four weeks, with each week featuring rewards reminiscent of items from the 2000s.

The announcement above also teases new events, but leaves out certain details (and indeed EA wants us to speculate about what they could be about). This includes the 'Nostalgia Now' event and 'Motherlode Season' (though we know that the latter is named after a well-known cheat in The Sims 4 that gives you 50,000 simoleons), as well as a currently un-named event on the 25th, with the only clue being an emoji pair of eyes.
As this is a franchise-wide anniversary, plans are also being made for games apart from The Sims 4. The Sims FreePlay, a Sims mobile game, will also see a nostalgia-based update, with 25 days of in-game gifts including iconic Sims items, special events, and an enhanced lighting option for home lots in an update coming in March.
MySims: Cozy Bundle, a game in the MySims spin-off series that was recently launched as a Nintendo Switch exclusive a few months ago, will also see a PC port, set to be released on March 18 on the EA App, Epic Games Store and Steam (though a pre-order page is online now).
Finally, EA also highlighted new features coming out of The Sims Labs, a playtesting programme for potential new features. This includes a new update available today that sees a revamped main menu screen with your previous play available as the first selectable option up front, as well as refreshed Townie Homes (or NPC homes) for the base game (the Willow Creek and Oasis Springs worlds in particular), in order to keep these places more lively. New Sims merch will also be available on 5 February.
