The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), opens in Las Vegas next week and ahead of the world’s grandest tech showcase, Samsung has thrown down the gauntlet with its latest Odyssey OLED gaming monitors.

The lineup consists of the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD), G8 (G80SD), and G6 (G60SD), with the standout being the G9.

The Odyssey OLED G9 is a behemoth at 49-inch, sporting a curved ultra-wide display and DQHD (5,120 x 1,440 pixels) resolution. Its sibling, the Odyssey 32-inch OLED G8, marks Samsung's first “flat” OLED gaming monitor and boasts 4K UHD resolution. Both models share a blistering 240Hz refresh rate and a nimble 0.03ms GTG response time. Finally, the G6 model, while smaller at 27-inch, doesn’t skimp on specs, offering a QHD resolution and an even faster 360Hz refresh rate

Now some of our astute readers might recall that Samsung has a 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 launched in 2023, but what really sets these 2024 monitors apart is the OLED Glare-Free technology. Gamers will no longer be distracted by movements reflected on their screens - and it works just as well as the treatment applied to their 2024 TVs. OLED panels also ensure more consistent brightness and colour as compared to other panels. Samsung has also added VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support for all three monitors.

Physical connectivity is robust too, with dual HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB hub, and DisplayPort 1.4 input. Ergonomics hasn't been overlooked either, with VESA mount compatibility and a height-adjustable stand that offers tilt, swivel, and pivot options.

As far as features go, these monitors are incredibly packed to the brim. For instance, the Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 come with Multi Control for device integration, allowing easy transfer of content between Samsung devices. These models come with Samsung’s SmartThings Hub as well, linking to various IoT devices for streamlined control. Both models are also equipped with the Samsung Smart TV platform and Samsung Gaming Hub, which provide access to streaming and cloud gaming services without downloads, storage constraints or the need for a PC or console (Note: This feature is available in select regions)
