Remember the Samsung MicroSD cards that Samsung announced at the start of the year? Samsung is now ready to sell its 1TB versions of the Pro Plus and Evo Plus microSD cards.

According to Samsung’s update, these microSD cards are designed to be battery-life-friendly and durable enough for high volumes of write-and-erase cycles, thanks to features of its built-in error correction and parity check code engines.

Specifically, Samsung said these new microSD cards are designed for devices like Android smartphones, tablets, action cameras, recording drones, and handheld gaming consoles. That last one sounds very specific to systems with large digital game files, like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch.

Evo Plus microSD cards that are 128GB or larger have transfer speeds of up to 160MB/s and have UHS Speed Class 3 (U3), Video Speed Class 30 (V30), and A2 App Performance profiles. This is sufficient for quick file transfers, 4K video recording, and booting up game apps from the microSD card, respectively.

Pro Plus is even faster, with 180MB/s sequential read speed and 130MB/s sequential write speed. The other speed profiles are otherwise identical.

(Not sure what those profiles mean? You can demystify them in our microSD card buying guide).

As mentioned in our earlier report, these cards also come with all the usual protections against the elements, such as water protection, extreme temperature, drop-proof design, wear-out protection, as well as X-ray and magnetic protection.

Samsung added that both Pro Plus and Evo Plus have a 10-year limited warranty.

The 1TB version of Samsung Pro Plus retails at US$153.99 (~S$204.36), while the 1TB Samsung Evo Plus microsSD card retails at US$131.99 (~S$175.16). We’ll update the article when official local pricing is available.

Update: Samsung Singapore has announced the official retail information for these microSD cards. They start selling on 7 August 2024 onwards.

The 1TB Samsung Pro Plus microSD card retails for S$199. The model number is MB-MD1T0SA/APC.

The 1TB Samsung Evo Plus microSD card retails for S$179 and has the model number MB-MC1T0SA/APC. If you're buying, note that the difference in model number is just one alphabet apart.

Both storage cards can be purchased from Samsung's official online store, its official Lazada platform, and Shopee.
