Razer Unveils PC Gaming Tablet Concept
Razer have unveiled their newest gaming device at CES 2012, an Intel core i7 equipped, 10.1-inch touchscreen tablet, codenamed Project Fiona - oh, and it has handlebars.
After revealing the netbook-like Switchblade at last year's CES, PC peripheral maker, Razer is upping the ante on portable PC gaming with Project Fiona, a tablet form factor device with a pair of button festooned handlebars attached to its sides.
Despite its diminutive size, Razer claim that Fiona users will enjoy full PC functionality. The device's initial specs are certainly impressive, boasting an Intel Core i7 processor, Windows 8 OS, 10.1-inch multi-touch 1280 x 800 display, 3-axis gyro, magnetometer, accelerometer, force feedback, Dolby 7.1 surround sound, WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0.
What really separates Fiona from other high-powered tablet devices are the dual controller handlebars attached to its sides. Adapted from an Xbox 360 layout, each controller boasts four face buttons, an analog stick, and two shoulder buttons. The majority of PC games now support Xbox 360 controller schemes, so Fiona should have a massive games library ready and waiting for when it launches.
Unlike the Switchblade, which has yet to see the light of day, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan has stated that Project Fiona is slated for a late 2012 release for under US$1000 (S$1291).
