Razer's HyperFlux V2 is a wireless charging mouse mat that's been a long time coming
This time, it's available with support for four different Razer mice. #razer #pcgaming

For those of you who've been tracking Razer products for a while now, you might remember the Mamba HyperFlux and Firefly HyperFlux from 2018. It was a mouse-and-mouse mat pair that was entirely battery-less, instead relying on a magnetic field created by the Firefly mouse mat (plugged into a power source) to power the Mamba mouse.
One of its flaws, however, was the exclusive compatibility between both products; the Firefly HyperFlux could only power the Mamba HyperFlux, and no other mouse. And given its competition with Logitech's PowerPlay at the time, another wireless charging mouse mat with wider compatibility, and its high price point, the original HyperFlux pair was a rather hard sell.
Ever since then, Razer has stayed mum about further additions to the HyperFlux line. That is, until now, as Razer has just announced the HyperFlux V2 mouse mat (no fancy name, this time).
The premise of the HyperFlux V2 is the same as its predecessor: Power your Razer mouse wirelessly, without any fuss. However, it remedies the compatibility issue that the original HyperFlux had, as it now works with these four mice:
- Razer Basilisk V3 Pro
- Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K
- Razer Cobra Pro
- Razer Naga V2 Pro
The way it achieves this, though, is in itself a concession to the original Logitech PowerPlay. The HyperFlux V2 utilises a charging puck (included with the mat) that can be installed on the underside of the compatible mice. It's a plug-and-play system, and one that resembles how the original PowerPlay worked.
The HyperFlux V2 also supports HyperSpeed connectivity, meaning it can act as a receiver for your wireless Razer keyboard and mice. Image: Razer.
However, Razer has integrated deeper connectivity features into the HyperFlux V2, so it's not just a simple wireless charging mouse pad. With Synapse, you can have the HyperFlux V2 act as a receiver for the compatible mice. And Razer says that pairing is remarkably simple: just set the mouse to 2.4GHz and place it on the mat. No dongle needed.
The HyperFlux V2 also supports HyperSpeed multi-device connectivity, which means that it can act as a receiver for compatible keyboards too, including the BlackWidow V2 Mini HyperSpeed, BlackWidow V3 Pro, and DeathStalker V2 Pro (full-size and TKL). The HyperFlux V2 also comes in hard-surface and cloth editions, depending on your mouse pad surface preference.
Seven years is a long time to make a follow-up product. In fact, in an instance of history repeating itself, they were beaten to the punch by Logitech again; the company coincidentally released the PowerPlay 2 mouse mat just a few months ago. However, Razer does seem to have the advantage in terms of additional features outside just wireless charging this time, so we'll have to see how these products will age as time goes on.
Pricing and availability
The Razer HyperFlux V2 is available now for S$179, for both hard-surface and cloth editions. You can find it at Razer's online store, RazerStores and authorised retailers.
