Razer collaborates with Fossil to introduce Razer X Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch

The collaboration sees a new look for the Gen 6, and comes as part of Razer's 'Champions Start From Within' wellness initiative

Razer and Fossil are collaborating to release the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch, a Razer-fied version of Fossil's Gen 6 smartwatch, and one of Razer's first forays into the watch market as a whole since the Razer Nabu Digital Watch.

This collaboration is primarily aimed at gamers through Razer's 'Champions Start From Within' campaign, focused on wellness and physical health. In line with that, Razer is leveraging the Gen 6's tech, including its SpO2 (oxygen saturation) sensor and improved heart sensor.

But the most obvious changes with this collaboration will come in the form of its looks. The limited-edition smartwatch will see a 44mm black case, the larger of the two Fossil Gen 6 sizes, three new watch faces (analog, Text and Chroma) with Razer accents, and 22mm silicone wrist straps that come in either black or Razer's iconic green.

In terms of specifications, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will run off the Gen 6's existing internals, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset (which the Gen 6 was among the first to adopt), 1GB of memory, 8GB of storage and a 1.28-inch display. Like the original Gen 6, the Razer-fied watch also sports an 80% charge in 30 minutes.

As for health features, apart from the aforementioned sensors, the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will also include the original's health-related software functions, including sleep tracking through the Gen 6's Sleep Tile widget, and Cardio Fitness Level tracking, which tracks your VO2 max, or the maximum amount of oxygen your body utilises during exercise.

Finally, though the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 will be launching with Google's Wear OS 2, Razer says that the smartwatch will be eligible for an update to Wear OS 3 in 2022, which includes performance improvements, support for more third-party widgets and a new UI.

Availability and pricing

The Razer X Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch will be available on both Fossil and Razer's website starting from this month, though it'll cost you US$329 (~S$450), a US$30 premium from the US$299 price of the original Gen 6.

The price markup might not be the only thing keeping you from getting it though; in true Razer fashion, there's only a limited quantity of 1,337 units, so if good luck if you're still planning to get your hands on it.
