Razer Blade Refresh Gets Upgraded Specs (Updated with local pricing)
Razer has just announced a refresh to its 17.3-inch gaming notebook, the Razer Blade. While the design remains the same, the second generation Blade will feature a currently unspecified third generation Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M GPU.
Update: We've just received word that the second generation Blade will be retailing from 7th September for $3599, making it $400 cheaper than the original.
Razer has just announced a refresh to its 17.3-inch gaming notebook, the Razer Blade. While the design remains the same, the second generation Blade will feature a currently unspecified third generation Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7 processor and an NVIDIA GTX GeForce 660M GPU. This replaces the Sandy Bridge Core i7-2640M (2.8GHz) processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M found in the original Blade, which was launched in Singapore in June this year.
Storage has also been revamped, although many will not see it as an upgrade: The 256GB SSD has been switched for a combination 500GB HDD and 64GB SSD.
The new Blade also features an expanded set of three USB 3.0 ports including powered-off USB charging. By comparison, the previous Blade had one USB 3.0 port, and two USB 2.0 ports.
The new specs should put performance on the Blade somewhere between HP's 2012 Pavilion dv6, which utilizes an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.3GHz) processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GPU and MSI's GT70, which uses the same i7 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 670M GPU.
No word from Razer Singapore yet on if the revamped specs will come with new local pricing, however, we have heard that US pricing has been reduced from US$2799 to US$2499.
