Razer has rolled out the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K wireless gaming mouse – an updated version of the Basilisk V3 Pro that was launched two years ago – now comes in black and white versions.

Available now for US$159.99 at Razer.com, this new model might not sports revolutionary game-changing upgrades that gamers were hoping for. Instead, we get a new sensor (hence the name) and a few tweaks to its software suite.

The biggest change is the sensor, with the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K now featuring the new Focus Pro 35K Optical Sensor Gen-2, which we first saw in the Viper V3 Pro (read our review here) gaming mouse. In essence, the new sensor brings better surface adaptability – the new Basilisk can now automatically detect and adjust to different surfaces – as well as the ability to fine-tune the dots-per-inch (DPI) sensitivity in single-digit increments. These improvements mean the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K is a bit smarter, smoother, and more responsive.

Design-wise, not much has changed. The Basilisk V3 Pro 35K keeps the same familiar shape, weight, and dimensions as the model from two years ago. The HyperScroll wheel makes a return as well, with a few quality-of-life enhancements thanks to Razer’s new Synapse 4 software hub. Gamers can now customise the Smart-Reel Mode, allowing for a more personalised experience by adjusting the transitions between tactile and smooth scrolling, along with scroll acceleration.

The Basilisk V3 Pro 35K feels more like a refinement over its predecessor than a revolution, although Razer claims the new Basilisk comes with an extended battery life of up to 140 hours (Razer HyperSpeed Wireless). For those who already own the Basilisk V3 Pro, there’s no compelling reason to upgrade to the 35K variant. But for anyone in the market for a new gaming mouse, the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K is worth considering.

There’s also a more affordable wired option, the Basilisk V3 35K, that sells for US$69.99.
