Earlier today, Google just announced Android TV, their new gaming-focused smart TV platform that runs on the new Android L OS. This clearly indicates Google's desire to compete with other set-top boxes such as the Amazon Fire TV and the Apple TV.

According to Razer, the new micro-console will stream movies, music and other apps onto TVs. That aside, Razer also said that the micro-console will have an emphasis on gaming.

The micro-console can be controlled by downloading an accompanying app on any Android smartphone or tablet, or via voice control that is built into Android TV.

Razer's CEO Tan Min-Liang also said,  "This is a console of the future. Built on Google’s incredible Android TV platform, the Razer micro-console incorporates not only hardcore and casual gaming, but music, movies and other entertainment and social applications, all on an affordable system.”

The Razer micro-console is due to be released this fall.
