Today (19 August 2024), The Pokémon Company has officially announced the new Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, which is basically the mobile app version of the Pokémon TCG itself.

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket works just like the physical card game. You can “tear open” digital booster packs, build decks, and compete against other players through the app. According to its official announcement, players are given two booster packs to open daily at no extra cost.

The selection of cards also include the first-generation Pikachu, with realistic and attainable body goals. Image: The Pokémon Company.

The digital TCG also has some of the newer mechanics, like Pokémon-ex where the Pokémon has more health, and/or is stronger than its regular version. Image: The Pokémon Company.

Part of the charm also comes from the expression of card effects, be it a special edition of a rare card or in-combat special effects, which helps to bring the TCG to life.
