Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed Hazard, the latest addition to Overwatch 2’s roster. Formally joining the game in season 14, Hazard is a mobile tank hero with abilities centred around spikes and crowd control.

Hazard has a blend of brawl and dive mechanics. His primary weapon, Bonespur, fires crystallised spikes in a shotgun-like spread, allowing him to deal significant close-range damage while maintaining decent poke potential. His mobility, on the other hand, is supported by his Violent Leap skill which enables him to make a forward jump that can be cancelled mid-air with a melee strike to damage and knock back enemies, and his Vault passive, which allows him to climb short walls and access high ground.

Another one of his abilities is the Jagged Wall, which the name suggests, is a placeable structure that damages enemies who touch it. As a tank, Hazard’s defensive ability, Spike Guard, provides damage reduction while regenerating Bonespur ammo and automatically targeting nearby enemies with spikes from his back.

Finally, his ultimate, Downpour, covers the battlefield with spikes, briefly trapping any enemies caught within its area of effect, much like Junkrat's Steel Trap, but with a larger area of effect.

In the hero trailer and developer blog, Hazard is revealed as the leader of the Phreaks, a cyberpunk-inspired rebellion group. Initially, Hazard enlisted in the military to find stability but was severely injured when an Overwatch ship crashed near his location. Afterwards, he joined the Phreaks and eventually rose to lead the group. Hazard’s powers come from the theft of vanadium isotopes, which grant him enhanced abilities without the need for cybernetic modifications.

Hazard will be fully available to play starting Season 14 on 10 December. For more information, check out the official developer blog here.
