Be the hero or villain of The Outer Worlds in its launch trailer

From the creators of Fallout: New Vegas.

Borderlands meets Fallout: New Vegas in the launch trailer for Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds. T. Rex’s 20th Century Boy plays as the trailer asks you a very simple question: Who do you think you are? Hero, villain - or Moon Man?

The Outer Worlds takes place in an alternate future - hence, the Bioshock-like art deco environments. Large businesses now dominate society, and megacorporations have begun colonising and terraforming alien planets. One colony ship malfunctions at the edge of space, while carrying the player in cryosleep.

You awaken to see most of your fellow passengers still in hibernation, and begin an investigation into the true nature of these corporations, while fighting off alien lifeforms, opposing factions and exploring a branching storyline.

This comes from Obsidian, the makers of Fallout: New Vegas, so the similarities between the two shouldn’t be two surprising. Your choices matter here. You can choose to play as the hero or villain during the story, and the overarching story will respond and shape itself around your choices.

Isn’t that something? The Outer Worlds will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 25, 2019 later this week. The game has also been announced for the Nintendo Switch - but a release date for the platform hasn’t been set yet.
