The Demon’s Souls remake will arrive on PlayStation 5, first revealed during Sony’s Future of Gaming event. Bluepoint Games is heading development on the full-fledged remake, with FromSoftware currently working on another Souls game: Elden Ring. Bluepoint has experience with touching up classics for modern consoles, having previously handled the Shadow of Colossus remake for PlayStation 4.

The trailer description states that Demon’s Souls has been, “entirely rebuilt from the ground up and masterfully enhanced.” The game will also come with a mysterious new ‘Fractured Mode’, and feature ray-tracing. Two graphical modes will be available to players - one emphasising graphical fidelity, and the other boosting the game’s framerate.

FromSoftware’s Souls games are known for being punishingly difficult, with fantastic enemy design and combat gameplay. The original game was so unique that it eventually spawned an entire videogame genre - so why not give its remake a spin when it launches?

A release date for Demon’s Souls has not been announced.
