More than 15,000 units of HTC Vive were pre-ordered in less than 10 mins

Despite its expensive price tag, the HTC Vive appears to be a hit with consumers as over 15,000 units were pre-ordered within 10 minutes.

HTC may soon be known more for its VR headsets than the smartphones it makes.

According to HTC's Shen Ye, over 15,000 units of the HTC Vive were reserved in less than 10 minutes when pre-orders opened two days ago. CEO Cher Wang also tweeted that she is "super excited at the overwhelming response to the start of pre-orders".

With the Vive priced at US$799, HTC easily achieved nearly US$12 million in sales in less than a day! The HTC Vive is a VR headset made in collaboration between Valve and HTC. Like the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive will only be compatible with PCs.
