Moonton has just announced brand new character and gameplay changes that will come as part of the annual project NEXT update.

Project NEXT, an annual initiative aimed at optimising the MLBB experience originally began in 2020 and will see a comprehensive revamp of the game beyond just visuals and audio.

To get started, this year’s update will see a new character, Zhuxin, enter the battlefield. Though no information about her skills was announced, this mysterious and beautiful hero will likely be a mage. Based on the trailer, she is a maiden with the ability to grant wishes through her enchanting powers.

The game will also see the rework of multiple equipment such as “Thunder Belt,” an item that will now deal additional true damage based on Hybrid Defense to the target and surrounding units every few seconds via a basic attack. Successful enemy hero hits will also grant increased hybrid defence to the user.

In a YouTube post by the company, there is also the introduction of a brand new item, “Wishing Lantern.” For more information about the equipment rework, readers can check out the video down below.

For beginners, the update brings streamlined equipment purchases, merged effects, and adjustments designed to ease the learning curve. Meanwhile, ranked players can expect a heightened challenge with lane optimizations and new match patterns emerging from the revamped system.

The update is slated for a 19 June release with the massive in-game campaign promising a comprehensive revamp of the equipment system, gameplay mechanics, and meta-balancing measures based on player feedback. For more information, readers can visit the blog post here.
